Resize image to 20KB for Indian exam and job portals, where a 10–20KB photo is one of the most common requirements. Upload your photo and get a JPG under 20KB in seconds, at the highest quality that fits, with the option to also set the exact width and height the form asks for. Next, use the signature resizer, or make a photo with name and date if your notice asks for one.
How to resize image to 20KB
- Choose the photo you want to upload to the form.
- Check the range: 10–20 KB by default, the most common requirement. Change it if your notice says otherwise.
- Optional: tick “Also set an exact size in pixels” and enter the dimensions from the notice, and pick a DPI if one is mentioned.
- Download your photo under 20 KB and check the size and pixels shown before you upload it.

Frequently asked questions
Will my face still be clear in a 20KB photo?
Yes, for a passport-style photo. At sizes like 200 × 230 or 350 × 450 pixels, 20KB is enough for a sharp face. Problems usually come from starting with a blurry or dark photo, not from the size limit, so use a well-lit photo against a plain light background.
The form rejected my file even though it shows 20 KB on my computer. Why?
Computers often round sizes, and websites count KB differently (1,000 or 1,024 bytes). A file that shows as “20 KB” may really be 20.4 KB. Our result stays under 20,000 bytes and shows the size rounded up, so what you see is never smaller than the real size.
Do I need to crop the photo first?
Only if you set an exact pixel size. The tool fits the photo to the width and height you give, so a photo with a different shape would look stretched. Crop it to the right shape first with our Crop Image tool. Without an exact size, the shape is always kept.
What does the DPI option do?
DPI is a label inside the file that says how large it should print. It does not change the KB or the pixels. Some forms check it, typically asking for 200 or 300 DPI. Leave it on “Don't change” if your form does not mention DPI.
Can I use this for a signature too?
Yes. Signatures usually have a smaller limit, often 10–20KB or under 10KB, and a wide shape such as 140 × 60 pixels. Set those values here, or use the 10KB tool.
Does this work on a mobile phone?
Yes. It is built for phones first and works in Chrome, Safari and Firefox, including on low-cost Android phones. Large photos take a few seconds longer on older phones.
