Convert HEIC to JPG

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG.

Your files never leave your device

Convert iPhone photos from HEIC to JPG, because Windows, many Android phones and most online forms cannot open HEIC. Convert them right on your device, one at a time or in a batch, with no app and no upload. For exam forms, resize image to 50KB afterwards or use the exam photo resizer.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose your .heic or .heif photos (HEIF to JPG works the same way).
  2. Wait a moment: the first HEIC file takes a few extra seconds while the converter loads.
  3. Each photo is saved as a JPG at 92% quality. Download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Tips for best results

  • AirDrop and iCloud often send photos as HEIC. Convert them before sending them to someone with a Windows PC or an older Android phone.
  • Convert a whole batch from your iPhone gallery at once and download the ZIP, instead of converting photos one by one.
  • To stop the problem at the source, set your iPhone camera to “Most Compatible” so new photos are saved as JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my iPhone save photos as HEIC?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) stores photos at about half the size of JPG at the same quality. It is the iPhone's default since iOS 11. To make your iPhone save JPGs instead, go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.

Why is the first conversion slower?

Most browsers cannot read HEIC on their own, so a converter (about 1.3 MB) is downloaded the first time you open a HEIC file. After that, conversions are fast. Safari on iPhone and Mac can usually read HEIC directly and skips this step.

Is the photo's orientation kept?

Yes. The photo is saved upright, the way it looked on your iPhone.

Will Live Photos or burst photos convert?

Only the still image is converted. If a HEIC file contains several images, the main (first) one is used.

Can I convert HEIC directly to a small JPG for a form?

Yes. Our Resize Image to 20KB, 50KB and 100KB tools also accept HEIC files and convert and shrink them in one step.
