How to use the schema markup generator

  1. Choose the type: FAQ schema, Article, Business, Product or Breadcrumb.
  2. Fill in the form. Fields marked * are required by Google.
  3. Fix any red errors shown under the form; yellow notes are recommendations.
  4. Copy the script and paste it into your page's HTML, then test the live page in Google's Rich Results Test.

Tips for best results

  • Mark up only what is visible on the page. Adding ratings, prices or FAQs that visitors cannot see breaks Google's guidelines.
  • A local shop, clinic or office should use the Business type with the exact name, address and phone shown on its Google Business Profile.
  • Use the Validate tab to check JSON-LD that a plugin or developer added. It finds JSON syntax mistakes and missing required fields.
  • One page can have several JSON-LD scripts, such as Article plus Breadcrumb. Add each as its own script tag.

Will schema markup improve my ranking?

Not directly. It helps Google understand the page and can make your result more attractive with stars, prices or breadcrumbs, which tends to increase clicks. Content quality still decides ranking.

Does Google still show FAQ rich results?

Since August 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health websites. FAQ markup is still valid and helps other search engines and AI tools understand your questions and answers.

Where do I paste the JSON-LD?

Anywhere in the page's HTML, usually in <head> or at the end of <body>. In WordPress, use a plugin's custom code box or a header and footer code plugin. Many SEO plugins also generate some schema automatically.

Which business type should I pick?

The most specific one that fits, such as Dentist, Restaurant or AccountingService. If none fits, LocalBusiness is fine.

What does the Validate tab check?

Whether the JSON is valid (and where the mistake is if not), and whether FAQ, Article, Product, Breadcrumb and business markup has the fields Google requires. Other types are checked for valid JSON only.
