This SERP preview tool shows how your title and description look in Google, which cuts them by their width on screen, not by a fixed number of characters. Type yours in and see exactly how they look on a computer and on a phone, with a warning where the text would be cut. Write the final tags with the meta tag generator, and check keywords with the keyword density checker.
How to use the SERP preview tool
- Type or paste your page title.
- Add your meta description and page URL.
- Compare the desktop and mobile Google snippet preview; red pixel counts mean the text will be cut.
- Shorten or reword until the important words show in full, then use them in your page or SEO plugin.
Tips for best results
- Wide letters (M, W, capitals) use more room than narrow ones (i, l, t). A title in capital letters is cut much sooner, so avoid ALL CAPS titles.
- Mobile shows less of the description than desktop, so make the first 100 characters count.
- Add your brand at the end of the title: if the space runs out, the brand is cut rather than your keyword.
- Use a short, readable URL. Google shows it as breadcrumbs, and a clean path like /compress-pdf/ looks more trustworthy than ?id=123.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters fit in a Google title?
Usually 50–60, but Google actually allows about 600 pixels on desktop. A title of narrow letters can fit 70 characters, while one with many capitals may be cut at 45. That's why this tool measures pixels.
How long should a meta description be?
Roughly 120–155 characters. Desktop shows up to about 920 pixels (two lines), mobile a bit less. Longer descriptions are cut with “…”.
Will Google always show my exact title and description?
Not always. Google may rewrite them to match a search better, especially if the title is stuffed with keywords or the description is vague. Clear, accurate text is kept more often.
Why is the font in the preview different on my phone?
The preview uses Arial at Google's sizes to measure width, which is what matters for cut-offs. Your phone may show results in its own system font, with nearly identical widths.
Does the URL affect ranking?
Only slightly, but it affects clicks. A short, descriptive URL helps people trust the result. Make one with our URL Slug Generator.
