Tips for best results

  • Keep slugs to 3–5 meaningful words. Short URLs are easier to share and less likely to be cut in search results.
  • Leave dates and numbers out unless they matter, such as a “2026” in an exam page. Otherwise you'll need to redirect the page when the year changes.
  • Changing a published page's slug breaks old links. If you must, set up a 301 redirect from the old URL.

Frequently asked questions

Hyphens or underscores?

Hyphens. Google treats hyphens as word separators, so compress-pdf reads as two words. With underscores (compress_pdf) the words may be read as one.

Should I keep Hindi in my URLs?

Google supports Hindi URLs, and they can match Hindi searches. But when copied, they often turn into long codes like %E0%A4%AA…, which look broken in chats. English-letter slugs are safer for sharing.

Why are words like “how” and “to” removed?

They make the URL longer without adding meaning: /compress-pdf-100kb/ says the same as /how-to-compress-pdf-to-100kb/. Untick the option if you prefer to keep them.

What happens to symbols like ₹, & and accents?

Accents become plain letters (café → cafe), ₹ becomes “rs”, and other symbols are removed, so the slug works in every browser and app.

Can I make slugs for many titles at once?

Yes. Paste one title per line and you get one slug per line, ready to copy into a spreadsheet or import file.
