Unlock PDF (Remove Password)

Remove the password from your PDF when you know it.

Your files never leave your device

Unlock PDF files such as bank statements, e-Aadhaar and salary slips that arrive password-protected, which many upload portals cannot read. Enter the password once and get an unlocked copy that opens and uploads normally. Then compress PDF size for the portal, or convert PDF to JPG if it needs an image.

How to unlock PDF

  1. Select the password-protected PDF.
  2. Type its password. Use the eye button to check what you typed.
  3. Tap “Unlock PDF” to decrypt PDF and save an open copy.
  4. Download the unlocked copy and keep the original as it is.

Tips for best results

  • Unlock first, then compress, merge or sign. Those tools need a PDF without a password.
  • Bank statement passwords are usually explained in the email that came with the PDF; search your inbox for the word “password”.
  • Delete the unlocked copy from shared or downloaded folders once you have used it, especially for financial documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can this remove a password I don't know?

No. You must enter the PDF's correct password. The tool does not guess or crack passwords; it is meant for your own documents, which you can already open.

What is the password of my e-Aadhaar PDF?

UIDAI's e-Aadhaar password is the first four letters of your name in capitals followed by your year of birth, for example RAHU1990. Bank statements often use a mix of name and date of birth or customer ID; check the bank's email.

It says the password is not correct, but I'm sure it is.

Check capital letters and spaces, and whether the sender's password uses your date of birth as DDMM or DDMMYYYY. Use the eye button to see what you typed. Copy-pasting from an email sometimes adds a hidden space at the end.

Is the unlocked PDF identical to the original?

Yes. Only the encryption is removed. Pages, text and quality are unchanged.

Is it legal to unlock a PDF?

Removing the password from your own document, with a password you were given, is fine. Do not use it on documents you are not entitled to open.
