This meta tag generator writes the tags that tell Google what your page is about and decide how your link looks when shared on WhatsApp or social media. Fill in a few fields, check the live Google preview, and copy ready-made tags into your page's <head>. Then test the share card with the Open Graph preview and add structured data with the schema markup generator.
How to use the meta tag generator
- Enter the page title and meta description. The counters warn you before Google would cut them.
- Add the page URL (canonical), a share image and your site name for the OG tags.
- Choose the page type, whether search engines should index it, and the X card style.
- Check the Google preview, then copy the tags (or download them) and paste them inside <head>.
Tips for best results
- Write a different title and description for every page. Duplicates make Google guess which page to show and often lead it to rewrite them.
- Put the main keyword near the start of the title, and end with your brand if there is room: “Compress PDF to 100KB – SiteName”.
- Use a 1200 × 630 pixel image for og:image so it looks sharp on WhatsApp, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- On WordPress, enter these in your SEO plugin's fields rather than pasting HTML, to avoid duplicate tags.
Frequently asked questions
Do meta keywords still matter?
No. Google has ignored the keywords meta tag for more than a decade, so this tool doesn't add it. The title and description matter far more, because they shape what people see in results.
Why does Google show a different description from mine?
Google rewrites descriptions when it thinks another part of the page better matches the search. A clear, specific description that summarises the page is used more often.
What is a canonical URL?
It is the main address of the page. If the same content opens at several URLs (with tracking parameters, with or without www), the canonical tells search engines which one to index, so ranking signals are not split.
When should I use noindex?
For pages that shouldn't appear in Google, such as thank-you pages, internal search results, or test pages. Don't use it on pages you want traffic from.
Are Open Graph tags needed if I have a meta description?
Yes, for sharing. WhatsApp, Facebook and LinkedIn read og:title, og:description and og:image to build the link preview. Without them they guess, often with a poor image. Check the result with our Open Graph Preview.
