Resize image width and height exactly, in pixels or in centimetres, millimetres or inches for printing. Keep the proportions locked so nothing looks stretched, or unlock them for a fixed size like 3.5 × 4.5 cm. To set the file size too, resize image to 50KB, or change image DPI for printing.
How to resize image
- Choose the image. Its current image size in pixels appears straight away.
- Pick a unit. For cm, mm or inches, also set the DPI (300 is standard for printing).
- Type the new width. With “Keep proportions” on, the height updates by itself. Or tap 25%, 50% or 75%.
- Choose the format to save as, tap “Resize image” and download it.

Frequently asked questions
How do centimetres turn into pixels?
Through the DPI (dots per inch). Pixels = centimetres ÷ 2.54 × DPI. So 3.5 cm at 300 DPI is 3.5 ÷ 2.54 × 300 = 413 pixels. The tool does this for you, shows the pixel result under the fields, and saves the DPI in the file so it prints at the right size.
What DPI should I use?
300 DPI for anything you will print, such as photos or documents. 200 DPI is common on Indian exam forms. 72 or 96 DPI only matter for old screen-based workflows. If you only care about pixels, keep the unit on Pixels and the DPI does not matter.
Why does my photo look stretched?
Because “Keep proportions” was off and the new width and height have a different shape from the original. Turn it back on, or crop the photo to the right shape first with our Crop Image tool, then resize.
Can I make a small image larger?
Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail, so a big enlargement looks soft. Doubling is usually fine. For best results, start from the largest version of the photo you have.
Which format should I save as?
JPG for photos (small files), PNG for screenshots, logos or images with transparency, and WebP for websites. “Same as original” keeps the format you uploaded. iPhone HEIC photos are saved as JPG.
Is the resizing good quality?
Yes. It uses the pica library's high-quality filter, which keeps edges crisp when shrinking, rather than the browser's faster but blurrier default.
