Frequently asked questions

Can I reduce a scanned certificate or ID card to 50KB?

Yes. Text on a white page compresses well, so most A4 scans fit under 50KB and stay readable. If small print gets blurry, crop away the empty margins first so the remaining text keeps more detail.

Why did my photo get smaller in pixels?

Only when quality alone could not bring it under 50KB. A 12-megapixel phone photo is about 4,000 pixels wide, and fitting that into 50KB would need very low quality and would look blocky. So the tool scales it down to a size that still looks clean, typically 900–1,200 pixels wide.

My form needs 20–50KB. Is that fine?

Yes. Set the minimum to 20 and the maximum to 50. The tool aims as close to 50KB as it can for the best quality, and never goes over.

Is my original photo changed?

No. The tool makes a new copy and your original stays as it is on your phone or computer. Nothing is uploaded either: all processing happens inside your browser.

Can I get a PNG instead of a JPG?

Size targets are produced as JPG because PNG cannot reach small sizes for photos. If you need a PNG, convert the result with our JPG to PNG tool, but note the PNG will be much larger than 50KB.
