Frequently asked questions
Is 200KB good enough for printing?
For small prints, such as a photo on a form or ID card, yes. A 200KB JPG can hold a 1,500–2,000 pixel image in good quality, which prints sharply at around 5–6 inches at 300 DPI. For large posters, keep the original file.
Can I reduce a multi-page document to 200KB here?
This tool works on images one at a time. For a PDF, use our PDF tools. For several photographed pages, resize each image here and download them as a ZIP.
What if my image is already under 200KB?
It is re-saved at high quality, which can make it slightly larger but never over 200KB. To make a small file bigger on purpose, for a form with a minimum size, use Increase Image Size in KB.
Do iPhone photos work?
Yes. HEIC photos from iPhones are converted to JPG automatically and then resized. On Safari this uses the built-in decoder. On other browsers a converter is loaded the first time you open a HEIC file.
Does resizing remove the date and location from my photo?
Yes. The new JPG does not carry the hidden EXIF information from your camera, such as GPS location, which is a good thing when uploading to websites.
