Compress PDF to 50KB

Shrink a PDF to under 50KB for strict upload limits.

Your files never leave your device

Compress PDF to 50KB for state portals and scholarship forms that allow only 50 KB per document. That is enough for a clear one- or two-page certificate if it is compressed well, and this tool tries a lossless clean-up first. If your file has many pages, use split PDF to keep only the ones you need, or compress documents for online form uploads straight from phone photos.

How to compress PDF to 50KB

  1. Select your PDF. One or two pages work best at 50 KB.
  2. Tick “Black and white” for text documents: it makes small files noticeably sharper.
  3. Tap “Compress to 50 KB” and wait for each page to finish.
  4. Open the PDF under 50 KB to check that it is readable before uploading.

Frequently asked questions

Can a 5-page PDF fit in 50 KB?

Usually not readably. 50 KB leaves under 10 KB per page for five pages, which blurs small print. Upload only the pages the portal needs (use Split PDF to extract them), or check whether the portal allows a larger limit for multi-page documents.

Why does black and white help so much?

Colour needs about three times as much information as grey. For a certificate or mark sheet, the colour of the paper adds nothing, so dropping it lets the same 50 KB hold far more detail in the text.

The text looks a little soft. What can I do?

Crop away the empty margins of the scan before making the PDF, or rescan at a normal setting rather than at very high resolution with extra borders. Less empty paper means more of the 50 KB goes to the text. Our Compress Documents tool can clean up a phone photo of a page before it becomes a PDF.

Will the portal accept the file?

It stays a standard PDF at the original page size, under 50,000 bytes, so it passes portals that count 1 KB as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. Portals also check the file type, which is a genuine PDF here.

My PDF is already under 50 KB. What happens?

Nothing is changed: you get your original file back, because re-compressing it would only lose quality.
